The Kongra Star and the Women's Council of the Democratic Union Party in Lebanon organized a celebration on the occasion of International Women's Day, the 8th of March, on Monday, in downtown Beirut.

Dozens of members of the Kurdish community participated in the celebration, which was held in front of the United Nations High Commissioner, while the women wore the Kurdish dress.

Then the head of the Jane Women’s Association, Bushra Ali, delivered a statement on behalf of the association, which reads: “We are hosting International Women's Day for the current year 2021, with great joy and happiness, they stem from our determination to continue the imminent struggle that our sisters started throughout the history of the region and the world at large. "

After that, a statement was delivered on behalf of the Women's Council in the Democratic Union Party in Lebanon by Sherifan Bakr, in which she recalled, "on this occasion, all the comrades who sacrificed themselves for the sake of freedom and in defense of women's rights, including the martyrs Hevrin, Sakina, Aryn, Hind and Saada, and all the comrades in the struggle and resistance," We pledge to follow in their footsteps to reach victory. "

Then a statement was delivered in the name of the Newroz Cultural and Social Association, by Mediya Ali, in which the League blessed "the eighth of March on all the women of the world, freedom fighters, workers, farmers, political prisoners and fighters."

After that, Mary al-Debs, President of the Musawah Rose Boutros Association for Women’s Work, gave a speech in which she congratulated all women in the world and Rojava (NE, Syria), in particular, on International Women's Day.

And she said, "We pay tribute to the Kurdish women who have proven that they are the heroes in the face of ISIS and all the enemies," expressing solidarity with them, as she stated: "We are with you from the beginning and we will remain until the end, and we will follow this solidarity in order to reach justice for all peoples and the Kurdish people in particular," Happy Women's Day.
