This came through a written statement issued by the AANES on the occasion of International Women's Day, which falls on March 8, in which it said:

"The world celebrates International Women's Day, which is culmination of the resistance of working women in New York to denounce the conditions of work. Afterwards, March 8 was chosen as an International Women's Day.

Although we welcome this occasion at the time, the Syrian woman still suffers from forced displacement, murder, violence and the occupation aftermaths, it remains an expression of the struggle of women who make history, fought for centuries to have role in a participatory society, and abolish injustice. This day is a reminder of the great role of women cross the world in preserving their rights, and it is a call for change when celebrating the achievements of women at various levels.

This day has turned into a symbol of women's struggle, bearing in mind that reducing the resistance in one day, does not do justice to women and express the true extent of the injustice and servitude that human societies suffer, but transforming this day into a way of sustainable struggle every day. This moment is considered one of the most important steps that woman has achieved worldwide.

Through her active social identity, women have managed to make themselves an extension of the culture of the mother gods since the dawn of time.

And here is the woman in NE Syria today, through her struggle against all forms of slavery and tyranny, made tremendous strides in the struggle for freedom. Among the gains in all fields of life is the belief that building a democratic society requires leadership of the woman's mentality and free will.

We particularly commend the great role that women played in the Women’s Protection Units' heroic resistance to eliminate the terrorism that threatens their existence, and preserve the gains of the women's revolution. Today, they culminate in their victory simultaneously with their Day, she becomes a model of a strong, daring and conscious woman, an icon of resistance and a saint for freedom.

Women struggle and resistance, are of utmost importance in order to achieve peace, democracy and freedom values that will become the inheritance of the women of Syria and the Middle East and the world.

On this occasion, we congratulate the mothers of the martyrs who sacrificed their sons for the sake of freedom and the safety of the region, and the women of the world and Syria, especially the NE Syria, on their International Day. We pay homage to their sacrifices and pledge to follow in their footsteps for the sake of women's freedom and build a democratic society.

We also call on women to defend their rights, not yield to the authoritarian mentality, join hands to protect the women's revolution, develop their struggle with hard and committed work, arm themselves with awareness and strong will, stressing the need to intensify efforts to represent women in drafting the new constitution for Syria.

In conclusion, we hope that this year will be a year for peace and more victories towards women's freedom. "
