6 people killed, wounded in two attacks E. Afghanistan

On Tuesday, six people have been killed and wounded in two separate attacks by unidentified gunmen in the city of Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan.

The Afghan "Taloo News" channel quoted its sources as saying that the first attack took place when gunmen opened fire on a police car, killing a policeman and wounding two others.

As for the second attack, it took place 20 minutes later, when unidentified gunmen attacked one of the cars, killing three people.

A source at Jalalabad Hospital confirmed that the victims of the second attack were two policemen and a doctor.

Local officials have not commented on the attacks, and no group has claimed responsibility for either.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced, on Saturday, that 18 Taliban were killed and 9 others were injured in a security operation in Arghandab in Kandahar province, south of the country.

A series of almost daily bombings on roads in the past few weeks have killed government officials, judges, journalists and activists.
