And the US State Department announced the cancellation of the decision to designate the Houthis in Yemen as a "terrorist group", and stated in a statement that the decision to cancel will take effect on February 16th.

Prior to leaving power in mid-January, the administration of former US President Donald Trump declared the Houthis a "terrorist group."

But the administration of the new president, Joe Biden, said it wanted to cancel this decision, and actually began temporarily suspending it days ago.

For its part, the US State Department affirmed that "the leaders of the Houthis: Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi, Abdul-Khaleq Badr Al-Din Al-Houthi and Abdullah Yahya Al-Hakim (will remain) subject to sanctions under the executive order related to acts that threaten peace, security or stability in Yemen.

"We will continue to closely monitor the activities of the group and its leaders and are actively working on identifying additional targets to identify them, particularly those responsible for explosive boat attacks against commercial shipping in the Red Sea and unmanned missile attacks on Saudi Arabia," added.

The State Department confirmed that the United States will continue to support the implementation of the United Nations sanctions imposed on Houthi members, and will continue to draw attention to its destabilizing activity and pressure the group to change its behavior.
