75% of National Conference preparations for Syrian democratic forces, completed

Under the sponsorship of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Syrian opposition forces and personalities are preparing to unify visions to solve the Syrian crisis, and reach a road map to end the decade-long Syrian tragedy.

This conference crowns the previous activities of the SDC, aimed at supporting the democratic path, as the Council has held five workshops in Europe, and three dialogue conferences in Syria since July 2018.

Drawing on the findings of the Syrian-Syrian dialogue conferences and workshops abroad, an elected Preparatory Committee, which was held on February 8 and 9, 2020, formed in the Brussels meeting, to prepare a dialogue platform between democratic forces towards a conference to unify them and build a political alliance. It revealed in a statement.

At that time, the SDC elected 10 members as the PC for the conference of the democratic opposition, and invited it to draw up an internal list and prepare for the conference.

According to the statement, the goal of the conference is "to build a broad democratic grouping that will take part in any political entitlements and national activities aimed at cutting off tyranny in all its forms, symbols and foundations, and establishing a state of equality, justice and law."

The statements of the SDC's officials increased about their efforts to hold a national conference, the latest of which was the head of the Executive Body of the SDC, Ilham Ahmed, on the 17th of January, within a women's meeting in al-Raqqa, in which she said that they are planning oo hold a conference for all Syrian opposition forces during this year.

In this context, a member of the PC, Ali Rahmoun, spoke to ANHA agency, and said: “We are still in touch with forces and personalities to participate in this conference, and currently we are working on preparing draft documents for the conference with the participation of some interested personalities, and in the process of making appointments with the US, French and Swedish Foreign Ministry, after That they welcomed the idea of ​​the conference. "

Rahmoun stressed that the purpose of the meeting with cooperation of these international parties is "to obtain international sponsorship for the conference, as they are influential in the Syrian situation."

Rahmoun confirmed that the PC has completed 75 percent of the preparations for the conference, adding: "We are waiting for the movement to return in Europe as a result of the measures taken in light of the Coronavirus spike, so that we can determine the date and place, and the conference may be held next summer."

Rahmoun indicated that the invitations sent are welcomed by the invitees, stressing that the process is still continuing, and he said that communication is made with all spectrums of the Syrian opposition at home and abroad, and everyone who has a vision that may lead to a solution to the Syrian crisis, in addition to the interested parties and personalities on the Syrian issue.

Since its formation, the Syrian Democratic Council has sought to gather the largest possible number of the democratic opposition spectrum and unify the Syrian opposition, through rounds of meetings, forums and consultative meetings at home and abroad.

The Syrian Democratic Council is one of the actors in the Syrian geography, and is representative of many nationalities, religions and spectrums of society, civil society institutions, political parties and groupings, which were established at a sensitive stage in the life of the Syrian crisis on the 9th of December 2015.
