An Afghan official announced that a car bomb explosion targeted a joint base of the security forces in Uruzgan Province.

The governor of the Afghan province of Uruzgan, Muhammad Omar Shirzad, told the media in a video clip that the Taliban had detonated a car bomb at a joint Afghan security base at about three in the morning.

The bombing killed two soldiers, a policeman, and a member of the Uprising Force, and wounded three other members of the security forces, according to what was reported by the Afghan Press Agency.

Shirzad added that new forces have been deployed in the area to help and support, and that the area is currently under the control of Afghan government forces.

Uruzgan province is one of the most insecure provinces in the southern part of the country.
