French delegation pledges support and COVID-19 vaccines to NE Syria

A high ranking French delegation paid a visit to North and East Syria and met representatives of the Autonomous Administration and touched on the political issues in the region in the light of the Turkish military threats, in addition to deliberations on mechanisms of giving support to projects and bids for stability in the region.

On January 11th, 2021, a French delegation headed by Eric Chevallier, director of the Crisis and Support Center of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs arrived at the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration on North and Eastern Syria. 

The delegation was received by co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and Eastern Syria, Abdul Kareem Umar, and deputies Fanar Ghi'et and Abeer Ilia, and Nafia Mohamed in charge of Chairmanship and Diwan Office.

The two sides touched on the latest developments in Syria in general and in North Eastern Syria in particular, as well as the constant Turkish threats against the region, and it's attacks carried out on Ain Issa and Tal Tamr,  and the breaches perpetrated in Afrin, Sere Kaniye and Gire Spi by the mercenary groups affiliated to the Turkish Occupation Forces, increasing murders in the al-Hol Camp that remains a complicated issue that requires a solution, in addition to the necessity by the Autonomous Administration to play it's role in politics and drafting the Syrian constitution. 

Umar made clear that the aim of attacks carried out by Turkey on North Eastern Syria is to destabilize the region in a bid to give breathe to ISIS as well as extending it's occupation in the region and making a demographic change. 

From his part, Eric Chevallier, director of the Crisis and Support Center of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, said:'' France has been engaged in talks in the European Institute of Peace to work largely on the al-Hol Camp and the rehabilitation of children and women, and compensating those harmed by terror, asserting that they would play a positive role in supporting the region via many issues such as the Intra –Kurdish dialogue, as well as establishing stability in the region'', adding:'' France supports delivering COVID-19 vaccines to all countries as it would spare no efforts in delivering that to North and Eastern Syria''.  

Chevalier concluded by offering thanks to the Autonomous Administration saying:'' this is not the first time that I visit  North Eastern Syria, stability in the region is important for the region in for Europe as well''.

At the end of the visit, the delegation was handed over dully some ISIS children of the French citizenship and those in urgent need to be transferred into France to receive the proper treatment.
