During the past two days, the contact lines in the vicinity of the town of Ain Issa were calm after nearly two months of attacks, sporadic clashes and mutual bombardment between the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on the one hand, and the Syrian Democratic Forces on the one hand.

On the 23rd of November of last year, Turkey and its mercenaries began a ground attack in an attempt to reach the international road and besiege the town of Ain Issa, before the first infiltration operation, which left 18 mercenaries dead at the hands of the Syrian Democratic Forces, failed after 9 hours of continuous clashes.

After that, Turkish artillery shelled the outskirts of Ain Issa town and a number of villages east and west for 3 continuous weeks.

The outcome

While a number of mercenary factions affiliated with Turkey announced an attack on the 18th of last December, to control the villages of Al-Mushrifa and Al-Jhubl, 3 km east of the town.

The mercenary factions were unable to control any village, after failed infiltrations on a number of axes.

According to a member of the General Command, Çiya Furat, in a previous interview with our agency, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced that 65 mercenaries were killed as a result of the battles that took place in the vicinity of Ain Issa for 7 consecutive weeks, while seven fighters of their forces lost their lives in the Turkish aggression.

The Turkish shelling on the neighborhoods of Ain Issa and a number of villages on the international road also resulted in killing 6 civilians, and 16 others, according to the Autonomous Administration.

The second Turkish military base near Ain Issa

In addition to the near-daily shelling, the Turkish occupation forces began to establish the closest military base to the M4 international road, opposite the village of Al-Maalik, in the northwest of Ain Issa, and had built the Saida military base 2 km north of the town.

Russian silence

Despite its presence with the Damascus government forces in the region, it ignores the Turkish brutal shelling, forgetting its role as a guarantor under the Sochi Agreement signed between Ankara and Moscow on October 22 to monitor the ceasefire process.

On many occasions, the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria called on the guarantor Russian government and the United States of America to take responsibility for the Turkish violations, following the military escalation in the town of Ain Issa, but so far neither of them has committed to its full pledges, while Ain Issa and its villages are still vulnerable to the Turkish attacks from time to time.
