3 dead, including a former journalist in IED explosion in Afghanistan

A journalist and former spokesman for the "Afghan Public Protection Force" of the Ministry of Interior was killed with two of his colleagues on Sunday in Kabul by a bomb explosion targeting their car.

Afghanistan has witnessed an increasing number of assassinations targeting journalists, political and human rights figures since a few months.

Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Erian announced that Diaa Wadan is a former journalist who worked for several Afghan media outlets, and his colleagues were killed before noon in the east of the capital.

Erian said that a vehicle carrying Diaa Wadan was targeted by an improvised explosive device, which led to killing him and two of his colleagues and wounding a fourth person."

Diaa Wadan was the spokesman for the Afghan General Protection Force, which provides security services for international companies operating in Afghanistan.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack at present.
