Co-chair of PYD Council in Euphrates: Sending mercenaries to Başûr aims to create national, sectarian conflicts

In a clear and declared violation, the Turkish occupation state continues to deploy its mercenary groups throughout the region, in a move that is neither the last nor the first of its kind, information has spread about a Turkish plan to transfer mercenaries to Haftanin area in southern Kurdistan.

Under the name of "protecting national security," Turkey violates the sovereignty of a number of countries, such as Syria, Iraq, Libya, and the Karabakh region, and strikes all international laws and standards of the international community.

Seeking to deepen the crises!

In this context, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party’s Council in the Euphrates region, Ahmed Sheikho, said: "The Turkish occupation state seeks to revive the Ottoman Empire, albeit at the expense of the sovereignty of neighboring countries; now what is happening in Iraq is clear to everyone."

He added, "The international community, whether European or Arab or others, has become fully aware of the Turkish government's aspirations, moves, and goals in the region, and sending mercenaries to Iraq is not a modern matter. In the past, Turkey sent mercenaries to fight in Libya and Azerbaijan and violated the sovereignty of those countries, and now it does the same in Iraq.”

Ahmed Sheikho believes that "Turkey is now trying to draw a new map for the Ottoman state and expand its geography in the region by interfering in the affairs of all countries in the Middle East, and in all of these countries the Turkish role aims to deepen crises and establish extremist factions as it did in Syria and is still doing so."

Over the past years, Turkey has established training camps for mercenaries inside its territory and inside Syria and Iraq, and has prepared thousands to participate in the conflicts that Turkey is provoking or playing a role in the region.

The policies of supporting mercenary extremists have led to disastrous results for the peoples of the region, as peace does not come to a place where Turkey and its mercenaries exist.

To northern Iraq to stir up sectarian strife!

Kurdish politician Ahmed Sheikho explained: "Sending extremist mercenaries to Iraq is to establish a base for them there, and this is an attempt to stir up sectarian strife and national conflicts in the region in general between Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds and Arabs, and it opens the door to more crises in the Middle East."

Sheikho added, "Whatever causes the spread of corruption and sectarian strife that the Turkish occupation state depends on in its wars in the region, for example, stirring up floating strife by sending Sunni extremist mercenaries to areas with a high Shiite presence, in addition to stirring up more of the floating strife between the Kurds and Arabs."

Speaking about the Iraqi position, Ahmed Sheikho said: "Iraq is a sovereign state in political circles and among the international community, but what we see on the ground proves that the Turkish occupation violates this sovereignty, and does not take into account the rights of neighbors or any of the international moral standards."

He added, "Exceeding the borders of the Iraqi state was not limited to sending mercenaries, but rather using the air space of the Iraqi state to bomb the Iraqi people is also a clear and explicit violation of Iraqi sovereignty."

At the end of his speech, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party’s Council in the Euphrates region, Ahmed Sheikho said: “Turkey is now the primary cause of all Middle East crises, and it has problems with all countries in the region, because the Turkish occupation policy is the occupation of all countries in the region at the current stage, which the international and Arab community has become aware of. We hope that these countries will stand with the peoples in the face of these plans and thwart them, just as they have foiled many of the Turkish occupation plans in the region.
