Sudanese sources confirmed to Al Arabiya network today that the Sudanese authorities have re-examined the nationality system established by Omar Al-Bashir, who was removed from power after several months of protests and civil uprisings in 2019.

Two days ago, Radio France Internationale reported that the Sudanese authorities had forfeited 3,548 passports, which were granted by the Omar al-Bashir regime to influential figures, including the Tunisian Parliament Speaker Rached Ghannouchi, the leader of the Tunisian Ennahda Movement.

A committee was formed to examine passports issued during the era of al-Bashir, after it was found that some of these passports were traded for an amount ranging between $ 10 and $ 15,000.

French Radio said that since the fall of Omar al-Bashir, the new authority has re-examined the nationality system that had been practiced for 30 years under the old regime, as many passports were granted for political, diplomatic or financial interests.

The radio indicated that passports were canceled due to security or health problems with their holders, or because the document was obtained fraudulently.
