Russian media reported that a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the Federal Security Building in Southern Russia.

The Russian "Interfax" agency quoted a security source as saying that a suicide bomber blew himself up in front of the Federal Security Building in Southern Russia.

According to the source, the accident that occurred in Karachay-Cherkessia resulted in injuring at least two people who were taken to a nearby hospital, in addition to the killing of the attacker.

The source added: "According to preliminary data, the perpetrator of the explosion was an anonymous man, and he was killed on the spot. Furthermore, the place was cordoned off, where the procedures for removing the effects and investigations began."

Another source told the agency: "Before the explosion, the man approached a group of security officials at the entrance to the Federal Security Building, and blew himself up.
