European Council President Charles Michel said today that the "cat- and- mouse" game between the European Union and Turkey must end, referring to the dispute over natural gas resources in the eastern Mediterranean, according to Reuters.

"The cat-and-mouse game must end" with Turkey once again withdrawing an exploration vessel from the disputed waters ahead of the December 10 EU summit, which is set to discuss possible sanctions on Turkey, Michel said at a news conference.

"In October, we set a positive agenda, and extended our hands," added Michel, who chairs the European Union summits. "Turkey must stop its provocations and hostile rhetoric."
