Simultaneous explosions targeting military bases in Mali

A United Nations official, who rejected to be named, confirmed that explosions occurred in the city of Kidal, and said that the explosions were caused by rockets that fell, on Monday morning, on the camp in Kidal.

In the same context, Suleiman Ali, a resident of Kidal, told the Associated Press that he heard more than 10 explosions coming from the direction of a camp of the United Nations peacekeepers, as well as from the headquarters of the French soldiers working in the "Operation Barkhane" to combat terrorism and rebellion in the area African coast.

Meanwhile, there were similar attacks in Gao and Menaka, and no further details were available, according to the Associated Press.

Attacks on camps of international forces are frequent, but this is the first time that cities separated by several hundred kilometers are attacked almost simultaneously, and no group has claimed responsibility for the simultaneous attacks.

The agency said that the simultaneous attacks were evidence of the coordination capabilities of "terrorist groups" in Mali.
