Security operation kills 16 "terrorists" in Kirkuk

The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, Major General Yehya Rasoul, said that 16 "terrorists" were killed in a security operation to pursue ISIS remnants in Kirkuk governorate in northern Iraq.

In a statement held by Alsumaria News, Yehya Rasoul said: "Under a direct guidance of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the units of the Anti-Terrorism Service embarked on a major operation in Kirkuk governorate in the area linking between Zgheitoun valley - al-Khanajer valley."

Rasoul added that the security operation began on Thursday and ended this morning, "during which an entire detachment of the remnants of "terrorist" ISIS mercenaries was targeted, and the operation resulted in killing 16 terrorist elements, after clashing with them inside their secret dens.

Rasoul indicated that a number of them were killed as a result of the direct confrontation, while others were killed by the international coalition aircrafts during their attempt to flee the confrontation, stressing that the Anti-Terrorism Forces had found important documents, a number of light and medium weapons, passports, and local and foreign sums of money.
