Diplomatic sources expected that the current UN envoy to the Middle East, Bulgarian Nikolai Mladenov, will be appointed to succeed the resigning UN envoy to Libya “Ghassan Salama.”

A diplomat expected that the Bulgarian, Nikolai Mladenov, would be formally appointed as the United Nations envoy to Libya, according to the "Al Arabiya" network.

Acting UN envoy Stephanie Williams is currently in charge of Libyan affairs, after the resignation of the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salama, who resigned in early March for health reasons.

The former Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Amamra ruled out the choice of former Ghanaian minister Hanna Seroua Tetteh to occupy the position of the UN envoy to Libya, after the name of Nikolai Mladenov, who was appointed since 2015 as an envoy to the Middle East, was put forward for this position.
