​​​​​​​Barzani responds to KNK’s call, but…!

Member of the leadership committee of the Kurdistan Workers' Party,(PKK) Murad Karayilan, appealed to the head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party for dialogue, after the latter moved his militants towards the Gara area. Barzani responded today to his call, through a statement on the official website of his affiliated party, directing accusations against the PKK without addressing any dialogue.

Barzani broke a promise he made several years ago when he prohibited intra Kurdish fighting, and said in his message: “History testifies that we forbade Kurdish fighting. Because the Kurdish people suffered greatly as a result of it. But our position must not be misunderstood, and be used to intervene in the legal authority of the Kurdistan region. Nor should an attempt should be made to impose an illegal armed will on the people of Kurdistan. We must not use the position of prohibition of Kurdish-on-Kurdish fighting in the face of the collapse of security and peace in cities, towns and villages, and for our citizens to leave their homes, properties and places, and turn into victims and be martyred without any right.

Barzani continued his speech without directing any word to the Turkish occupation: “After the terrorist attacks of ISIS, the heroes of the Peshmerga headed to the battlefields and emptied most of those border areas. Unfortunately, instead of supporting the experience of the Kurdistan region, the PKK militants took over these border areas as an alternative to the regional government, prevented people from building their homes and villages, and imposed taxes on citizens who wanted to visit their areas. Of course, this is unacceptable. The patriotic and national position is by deeds, not words.

Barzani claimed that in southern Kurdistan they supported the PKK in the beginning, and added: “Here, I must remind them when they started the movement, how we helped them by all means. On the contrary, they showed a dishonorable stance, and have been at war with us for at many stages, with which everyone was affected.

Barzani added: “The best position at this stage is to show respect for the legal and legitimate authority in the region. They should also leave the areas they occupied by force, as they pose a threat to the citizens of the Kurdistan region after turning hundreds of villages into battlefields.

It is noteworthy that the KDP began, since last October 25, to send a large force of its armed men, accompanied by heavy weapons, to the vicinity of the area of ​​the attack, and deployed its militants in points close to the PKK fighters. Meanwhile, Turkish warplanes targeted the Guerrillas fighters in its raid.

The force sent to the vicinity of "Ghara" is directly linked to the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, and it consists of a force called "Gulan", as it includes militants from the so-called "Peshmerga Roj".
