As part of the efforts exerted to raise women's awareness and introduce them to their history full of accomplishments as well as the defeats they suffered as a result of the authoritarian patriarchal thought, the Syrian Women Council in Aleppo organized a lecture under the title "Women and Religion."

The lecture was held in the conference hall in the Syrian Democratic Council's room, and a number of women and representatives of institutions in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood attended.

The lecture began with holding a minute of silence, after which the Member of the Women Council Raw'a Khair Bakeer explained the seminar's focus, the stages of formation, and the stage of the goddess Ishtar age, when the status of women was above other classes of society.

In the context of her speech, Raw'a focused on the situation of women during the "Messenger" and the spread of religions thought, especially the Islamic religion, and said: "They were subjected to a lot of harassment as a result of the wrong fatwas issued by some clerics."

Raw'a also touched on the current stage that the Syrian women are going through, noting: "During this crisis, women have been the victim of ISIS mercenaries, and have become the savior and source of the intellectual revolution during their success days in proving themselves on all levels during the 19th July Revolution."

Later, the discussion was opened to the attendees , and they expressed their views on the possibility of changing the misconceptions prevailing in society and ways to change them in order to reach a free democratic society based on partnership foundations.

On holding the symposiums and dialogue sessions similar to the Women Council's, the Administrator of the Syrian Women's Council, Haifa Hassen, spoke and said that their first goal in holding these lectures is to emphasize the legitimacy of women's rights and the possibility of protecting them from persecution because the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries are the most who worked on persecuting women during the Syrian crisis.

Haifa Hassen stressed during her speech the need to work on adopting the positives and avoiding the weaknesses that exist in beliefs to avoid their use by enemies such as ISIS mercenaries.
