According to what the Israeli Jerusalem Post newspaper mentioned, Qatar is the closest partner for Turkey that escalated its hostility in the region last little while.

Qatar hosts Al-Udeid Air Base, where the U.S. Air Force has a significant operational presence. However, "the United States has more reliable partners in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, and both have signed a peace agreement with Israel," according to the newspaper.

Despite the close defense relations between the United States and Qatar, according to the newspaper, Doha is not a candidate for the most advanced F-35 fighters.

Qatar has been accused of supporting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks, and the state has funded the Taliban, Hamas, ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the Brotherhood.

The Israeli newspaper pointed to the Turkish-Qatari rapprochement and Ankara's support for Doha, in the face of its Gulf neighbors, especially after Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt boycotted Qatar in 2017.

Qatar hosts a large Turkish military base, and both countries openly support the Brotherhood. Turkey's embrace of Brotherhood leaders has fueled destabilizing conflicts across the Middle East.

The newspaper said about Turkey: "Its reckless and illegal search for energy resources in the eastern Mediterranean could lead to an armed conflict with a country with it in NATO, which is Greece."

Like Qatar, Turkey plays a role in major geopolitical disputes, most notably the purchase of Russian S-400 air defenses, and coordination with Moscow on Syria, Libya, and other regional security issues.
