Yazidis must organize themselves in and outside to confront political genocide

Under the slogan "With Our Unity, Afrin and Serêkaniyê Will Be Liberated," and with the presence of 200 Yazidi delegates in northern and eastern Syria, representatives of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the People Protection Units (YPG), the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), representatives of the Kurdish National Unity Parties, representatives of the Kurdish National Council, representatives of civil society institutions, and the democratic Islamic society, the work of the first founding conference of the Yazidis Union in Syria was launched in Bailasan hall in Amuda district.

Danger still threatens our Yazidi people

During the founding conference activities, several speeches were delivered, among them the speech of the Head of the Executive Committee of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, who emphasized that the Yazidis of Syria are experiencing a sensitive stage, and they must organize themselves in all respects to be a response to the genocides and ethnic cleansing practiced against them, and she said: "The danger continues to threaten our Yazidi people. They must unite at home and abroad."

Ilham Ahmed criticized the United Nations, the international coalition and the international community's silence about what was practiced and still being practiced against the Yazidi component in Şengal, Afrin and Serêkaniyê; killing, displacement and injustice, in addition to the repression policy and political, cultural and ethnic genocide. She said: "Afrin's pain still exists after the genocide in Şengal and still has an impact on souls; therefore, the Yazidi people must organize themselves, unite, and demand their legitimate rights. If the Yazidis in the world unite, they will form an impenetrable shield to ensure that the genocide against them will not be repeated."

Ilham Ahmed emphasized that, as the Syrian Democratic Council and all the Autonomous Administration institutions, they support the Yazidis who demand their freedom and rights, and their heritage and culture preservation.

The Co-Chair of the General Council for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Siham Qeryo, congratulated on behalf of the Autonomous Administration holding the first founding conference on the Yazidis, and wished them success within the Autonomous Administration project.

Siham Qeryo explained: "The Yazidi people have so far witnessed 73 genocides, most of them at the hands of the Ottoman and Turkish state which committed massacres against other peoples, such as the Assyrians, Syriacs, Armenians, Kurds and Arabs, and the last massacre was in 2014 at the hands of ISIS mercenaries."

Siham Qeryo indicated that the Turkish state is still continuing its policy of extermination against the Yazidis in Afrin and Serêkaniyê, and said: "They are subjected to murder, captivity, rape and torture."

Siham Qeryo noted that the Yazidis, despite what befell them, are still resisting and struggling for survival.

Kurdistan Region Government prevented us from participation

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şengal also sent a message to the founding conference, which was read by the Member of the Presidential Council of the Yazidis Union in Syria, Elias Sido, and it included: "We in the person of the struggler Agîd Javyan commemorate all martyrs and victims left in Şengal genocide, praise the people of north and east Syria who responded to the alarm for Şengal people in 2014 and  fulfilled their promise to the women and children of Şengal who were liberated from ISIS, and we salute north and east Syria's people for their sacrifices for our sake."

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şengal explained through its message to the conference: "Kurdistan Region worked for the interests of the Turkish state, so they set the borders between us, imposed a blockade on us, and prevented us from participating in the founding conference held now which is important for the Yazidi people to know what policy is ongoing around them."

The letter referred to the policy being hatched against Şengal, Afrin and Serêkaniyê, and said: "The aim of this policy is to annihilate and erase the Kurdish presence. Kurdistan Region Government practice in cooperation with the Turkish state arbitrary plots with the aim of breaking out civil wars among us through sabotage operations, destabilizing the security and stability that the people of Şengal are now experiencing after its liberation, organizing itself and establishing its Autonomous Administration with great resistance and struggle."

The agreement between Kurdistan Region and Baghdad aims to control Şengal

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şengal pointed to the agreement that was concluded between the Kurdistan Region Government and the Iraqi government, and said: "It is a repeat of the betrayal that the Kurdistan Region committed in 2014, and this agreement is to impose their control on Şengal."

The Member of the Yezidi Women Union in Afrin, Guleh Jafar explained that the Turkish state and its mercenaries committed crimes against the people of Afrin and the Yazidis in particular, and said: "The Turkish state targeted in Afrin the women who protect the Yazidi heritage and culture, practiced the most heinous crimes against humanity, destroyed all shrines and imposed Islamic customs and traditions which ISIS failed to achieve in Şengal."

Nuri Mahmoud: Countries collapsed in front of ISIS and the Protection Units met Şengal's call

The Official Spokesman for the People Protection Units, Nuri Mahmoud, indicated in his speech that the authoritarian countries that dominate the Middle East worked to erase the Kurdish people's existence, follow the oppression and extermination policy against all components that struggled to claim their legitimate rights, and that authority practiced the policy of murder, displacement, torture and rape before the world's eyes, which remained silent.

Nuri Mahmoud explained that the Yazidis are part of the peoples that have been marginalized throughout history and genocides have been perpetrated against them, while international charters and balances have collapsed in the face of the terrorist invasions of ISIS, but the peoples of northern and eastern Syria got united against them and defeated them in Kobane, Şengal, north Syria, and saved the whole world.

After the speeches ended, the rules of procedure of the conference were read by the Member of the Yazidi House, Faruk Tozo, after which they were discussed by the participants in the conference.
