Co-chair of Şengal Council: Turkish role not excluded, agreement is continuation of decree

On October 9th the Iraqi Federal and the Kurdistan Regional governments concluded an agreement on security and administrative issues in Şengal and establishing stability in the province, amid wide popular rejection to the agreement which is being considered as a violation to their will. 

In this context, the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration Council in Şengal, Riham Hejjo, said that since a while meetings and interviews are going on between officials of the two sides and we follow them constantly, and we knew they were preparing an agreement on Şengal.   

Hejjo pointed out that: " the agreement was signed regardless of residents, and ignored the will of Yazidis, who were exposed to mass murder at the hands of the ISIS mercenaries and those supported them in August 3rd 2014. 

Hejjo noted they consider the agreement as a continuation to the 2014 decree and a means to eradicate the Yazidis presence, " especially when Yazidis have been excluded from governing their region directly, as articles of the agreement state, which is considered treason to Yazidis martyrs".  

And added:" for this, any agreement or decision without the will of the Yazidi community would be useless and unacceptable.

Hejjo touched upon the Turkish attacks on Şengal, and the continuous strikes on the Yazidi community, to achieve its occupational policies in the region, saying: The Turkish role in the agreement is not hidden, according to our information it was singed under Turkish pressure, but what concerns us is to protect our community.
