Leader Ocalan: With Arin Mirkan, women opened their eyes to a new life

Women in northern and eastern Syria adhered to the approach of resistance embodied by strugglers such as Zilan (Zainab Kanaji) for the sake of a free and dignified life. Arin Mirkan is one of those women. In 2014, Arin Mirkan carried out a commando operation against ISIS mercenaries in Kobani. The guerrilla operation strengthened the spirit of resistance among all its comrades as well as among the Kurdish people, and the echo of the operation spread all over the world, and a new stage in the women's struggle for freedom began.

The leader Abdullah Ocalan, and from his prison on Imrali Island, saluted the resistance of Arin Mirkan, and said that Kurdish women made great and magnificent sacrifices for the sake of freedom.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan says in his message: "In the person of Kobani's resistance and the spirit of resistance of Arin Mirkan, women have opened their eyes to a new life and a new civilization. With these feelings, I send greetings and the most respectful of the daring women who fight courageously for freedom."

Leader Ocalan emphasized in his message, "The twenty-first century will be the century of a woman’s revolution." Addressing this message to Arin Mirkan and all the women:

There is no life without a woman.

There is no life without a woman, without freedom, there is neither beauty nor morality. What I mean by women's morals is the power of women to make decisions. Asking a woman to marry, or giving your daughter to marry, is not acceptable. You should say this is me, I am myself, not anyone. A woman is not her husband, her son is not her father, and she is not her brother's sister. This is also not permissible. A woman must have her own being, and this will only be achieved through struggle, research, and through illumination of darkness.

Had it not been for the women's struggle for freedom, the woman would have remained captive of slavery. Sakina Cansiz life is a case in point. Sakina's struggle is women's freedom. You must hold the perpetrators accountable. There are many heroic martyrs. I respectfully remember them all.

“I'm talking about societal love”

Now the whole world sees the resistance of Kurdish women and their images occupy the forefront of the media, newspapers and magazines. The love of freedom has left this area. The whole world should be aware of this fact. In order to get to know the reality of the Kurdish people and their homeland Kurdistan, we must understand the sociology of women, their role and struggle in the march of resistance and liberation. I do not deny meanings such as love and having a family, but without freedom these meanings bear nothing. I mean here the love of society and the people.

'The most beautiful woman is the free woman'

For me the freedom of a woman is more important than anything else. The most beautiful woman is the woman who lives more freedom, because the association between the oppressed woman and the man who holds the reins of power has no value, just as there is nothing more beautiful and more precious than the connection between a free woman and a free man who is freed from the tendency of domination. For thirty years now the woman has been the most connected to me. My conversations with and about women are important, and if you want to conclude agreements amongst you, they must be based on combating violence against women, standing against the rape of women and ending all forms of killing and liquidation that are committed against women and struggle for that. You must evaluate this thoroughly. You must distrust men, just as you must eliminate the man’s dogmatism. You must have confidence in yourself, freedom and equality are achieved by resolving the issue of women, and that is why my revolution is the woman’s revolution.

'I will not be a citizen of a country where women are killed'

Erdogan says you should have 3 children, early marriage is good. He is working on consolidating these ideas with the full knowledge of. What I also say is very knowledgeable. This expresses two contradictory mentalities, and we will see who will win. Among the provisions that i placed in the democratic solution, women's freedom is the first. However, they do not understand and say, "What does this have to do with the democratic solution?" I speak clearly, the relationship between the democratic solution and women's freedom is very clear, and I said previously that I would not be a citizen of a country where women are killed in this way. The solution is to achieve the rights, equality and consolidation of women's freedom, because women's rights and freedom are the basis for me.
