​​​​​​​Mezlum Dinç: Isolation aims to eradicate democratic nation's project

At the request of the Turkish Public Prosecution, the Second Enforcement Court in Bursa issued a decision in which it prevented leader Abdullah Ocalan and three others in Imrali prison from meeting with lawyers for a period of 6 months.

On the timing of the issuance of the decision, what is the authorities aim of this decision, and the position of the European Committee against Torture, Mezlum Dinç, the lawyer for the leader Abdullah Ocalan, spoke to Hawar News Agency.

Mezlum Dinç said that: "Since the establishment of the emergency state, 2016, Turkish authorities has prevented the lawyers from meeting with their clients in Imarli prison and added" all the requests of the meeting have been rejected since 27 July, 2011, before issuing executive court in Bursa under pretext the bad weather condition where is violating international rights and laws but this decision is being extended each 6 months, after announcing the hunger strike by MP Leyla Guven her activity had a wide resonances in Turkey and the world, forcing the execution court to implement her demand to lift the decision . During that period, Mr. Ocalan was able to meet with his lawyer for only 5 times, and meetings were banned again, as of August 7, 2019, as the meeting requests submitted by the lawyers were not answered, which means that meetings are effectively banned.

This decision is an official announcement of the implementation of the isolation.

On September 23, 2020, the Bursa Second Executive Court issued a new decision in addition to its unlawful decisions, as it the leader and 3 Imrali detainees have been prevented to meet their lawyers for 6 months under pretext "disciplinary sanctions", which were implemented during the years 2005-2009.

Regarding the decision to ban lawyers' meetings with their clients, lawyer Mezlum Dinç said: “Meetings were already prohibited in practice, but this decision was added to them, which means a breach of some of the few rights that existed in relation to Imrali. This decision is an insistence on continuing the isolation that has been continuous for years. "Mr. Ocalan has been subjected to severe isolation for years. This decision is an actual and official implementation of the state of isolation."

This decision coincided with the HDP counter campaign, not a coincidence.

Lawyer indicated that the political extermination campaign pursued by the Justice and Development Party and the Nationalist Party coincided with the banning of lawyers' meetings with Imrali detainees was not a mere coincidence, and added in this regard:

"At a time when the isolation of our client, Mr. Abdullah Ocalan is tightening, Kurdish political representatives and representatives of Kurdish institutions and organizations are subject to arrest, and violent attacks, and violence escalates, and these acts of violence result in the killing of hundreds of people. These decisions are issued by AKP, it is a declaration of war. When the isolation from Mr. Ocalan is eased a little bit, and Mr. Ocalan is given a little room to express his views, then the general atmosphere in Turkey witnesses a state of calm and relief. Hopes and aspirations for resolving the exacerbated issues and problems and achieving democracy in Kurdistan and Turkey are also revived.

Therefore, the decision to ban the lawyers' meetings with Ocalan coincided with the start of the political extermination campaign against the members and electors of the HDP is not a mere coincidence.

It is an official state decision. The Turkish state is determined to pursue a policy of divestment and killing in the face of the policy of solution and respect for life pursued by Mr. Ocalan.

The Committee against Torture must fulfill its responsibilities.

He called on the European Committee against Torture to intervene immediately in response to this unjust decision, and to work to completely dissolve the Imrali regime and take a responsible stance. And the decisions of the execution court in Bursa that were issued after the imposition of the state of emergency, and their connection with the world was severed, and the detainees are being held in difficult conditions of detention and deprived of their rights, including (the right to write).

The European Committee against Torture stated that it rejects these measures, and that they are inconsistent with international human rights charters and norms. The committee called on officials in the Turkish state to allow Mr. Ocalan and the rest of the detainees in Imrali to meet with their families and their lawyers. But the execution court in Bursa issued this decision, and the decision is a response by Turkish state officials to the report of the European Committee Against Torture, according to which we will continue to divest. On the island of Imrali, the Turkish state violates its own laws. State charters and the decisions of international officials are also violated and marginalized. Therefore, the European Council and the European Court of Human Rights require the European Committee against Torture to work to solve and end the torture system in Imrali instead of issuing statements, and to do everything that falls upon them to end the torture system in Imrali.

The Turkish authorities at the stake of collapse, so the violence escalated

He pointed out that the Justice and Development Government insists on continuing the policy of violence, war and isolation in order to perpetuate its authority, adding: “Mr. Ocalan, in his pleading entitled“ The Kurdish Issue and the Solution of the Democratic Nation, ”indicated that the Justice and Development Party and the army allied with the owners of the old regime, and building on this alliance, the existence of the Kurdish people and everything related to the freedom of the Kurdish people must be eradicated, and eradicated culturally. Otherwise, the Justice and Development Party would not remain in power in another way, so the Justice and Development Party insists on pursuing a policy of violence, war and dispossession in order to preserve its power. More killing and destruction of the Kurdish people and the rest of the peoples of the region, including Arabs, Persians, Armenians, Syriacs and all other components, meaning that this policy harms all components of the region.

On the other hand, Mr. Ocalan proposes the solution of the democratic nation as a model for democratic solution and coexistence among all peoples. In the meeting that took place with Mr. Ocalan in 2019, he attached great importance to the honorable peace and the politics based on the democratic solution, and said that if he had the opportunity, or if he had the opportunity, then it is possible to achieve a solution based on resolving the Kurdish issue within the framework of the Syrian territorial integrity. However, after the date of August 7, 2019, all meetings with Mr. Ocalan were banned. "

Therefore, the peoples of the Middle East must confront these pernicious policies and work to end the isolation system imposed on Imrali.
