Two schools opened for displaced students of Afrin in al-Shahba

After preparations that lasted for four months, the Kurdish Red Crescent, in coordination with the Training Committee of the Democratic Society of Afrin Canton, opened two schools for students from Afrin canton, forcibly displaced to al-Shahba in Barkhwadan and Sardam camps, during an opening ceremony held in Sardam camp, located in Tal Sosin village in al-Shahba canton.

The ceremony began with a minute of silence, followed by a speech by a member of the Sardam camp council in al-Shahba canton, Rasheed Muhammad, during which he congratulated the opening of the two schools for all students and wished the students to excel in their academic stages.

The administrator of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Alia Muhammad, also said that the two schools aim to allow students to be able to continue their education under conditions of displacement.

The area of the school in Sardam camp is 1250 square meters and includes 20 classrooms containing 114 seats. There are 700 students. While the area of the school in Berkhadan camp is 2100 square meters, it includes 22 classrooms and the number of students reaches 1000 students.

Teaching in the two schools will start from tomorrow, and will be in two shifts.
