Karabakh army spokesman Surin Sarumyian said that Azerbaijan, which was using aircraft, drones and tanks, faced "heroic resistance" from the Karabakh forces.

The attack came a week after the conflicting parties began shelling with tanks and missiles.

Tensions are increasing between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the fiercest clashes since the 1990s, and it has been confirmed that about 200 people have been killed since last Sunday, including more than 30 civilians, amid fears that the battles will turn into an open war on several fronts that would drag regional powers such as Turkey and Russia into them.
