The Swiss Prosecutor's Office (OAG) announced that three men and a woman have been arrested in Freiburg as part of a criminal investigation into extremist activities.

On Friday, the Swiss authorities said that they had arrested four people on suspicion of having links with ISIS and Al Qaeda, according to Swiss Radio International.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office stated that police searched three homes in the western province of Freiburg early Friday, as part of two criminal investigations into alleged extremist activities.

The four persons are suspected of violating Swiss law that prohibits dealing with organizations linked to Al Qaeda and ISIS. Prosecutors stated that the four detainees are also suspected of "supporting or having been involved in a criminal organization."

The prosecution identified the four as a Kosovar woman (28 years old), an Macedonian (26 years old), a Kosovar man (34 years old), and the fourth with dual Swiss and Kosovar nationalities (34 years old).
