22 people lost their lives when a military transport plane crashed while trying to land at an airport in Ukraine, according to a statement issued by the Ukrainian Air Force.

The crashed plane entered service in the seventies, a Russian-made Antonov An-26, was on a training flight, with 28 people on board, some of them students from "Kharkiv Air University" in addition to a number of military pilots, and a crew of 5, according to what I reported. Al Arabiya Net from the Ukrainian news site zaxid.net.

The site stated that the plane suffered a malfunction that made it lose its track during landing, and fell on fire near a highway two kilometers from Chuguev Military Airport.

According to a report issued early this year by the aviation and aircraft website Flight Global, the Ukrainian Air Force has 25 aircraft of this model known as twin-turbine engines, each with a capacity of 40 passengers, in addition to a crew of 5 people, with a speed of 440 kilometers per hour with a range Up to 2,500 kilometers, it is mainly used to transport passengers, cargo and paratroopers.
