With photos, International Investigation Committee's report reveals Turkey's crimes in Afrin, Serêkaniyê

The United Nations International Investigation Commission prepared a report on the violations of the various conflicting parties in Syria during the period between January and July of 2020. The report included detailed documentation of war crimes committed by the Turkish state and groups loyal to it, or the so-called "Syrian National Army" in both Afrin and Serêkaniyê, and the report was attached with high-resolution imagery.

The International Investigation Commission devoted almost half of the report to the war crimes committed in Afrin and Serêkaniyê, and published a series of pictures, which are as follows:

Ain Dara temple, located in Afrin, extends to 3 thousand years, is protected and registered with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and the images show the destruction inflicted to the archaeological site.

The report also published photos taken at different times showing the damage inflicted to the archaeological site of Siti in Afrin, which dates back to the Hellenistic period.

The photos taken in different close periods show the destruction of the civilian displaced persons' camp in the village of al-Dawoodiyya of Serêkaniyê after the attacks launched by the Turkish occupation army. The report referred to the seizure of civilian homes in the village of al-Dawoodiyya by the armed groups loyal to Turkey, and the area was converted into a military base.

The report of the United Nations Independent Investigation Commission consists of 25 pages and includes documents on war crimes committed by the Turkish state and its armed groups. The report is scheduled to be presented to the International Human Rights sessions which are being held in Geneva from September 14 to October 6.
