On Wednesday morning, the Arab newspapers discussed the results of the visit of the Russian delegation to Damascus, in addition to the tension in the eastern Mediterranean, and the Turkish-Iranian moves in the Arab region.

Al-Arab: Lavrov and the dormant Syrian crisis

The Arab newspapers published this morning on the Syrian issue dealt with several topics, the most prominent of which was the results of the Russian delegation’s visit to Damascus, and in this context, the Syrian journalist Bahaa al-Awam wrote an article published by Al-Arab newspaper in which he said: “After eight lean years, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is visiting Damascus. Lavrov has solutions to the Syrian crisis, but rules for consolidating the stability of his country on the coast of the Mediterranean. It is time to put points on the letters and settle disputes over permanent Russian residency in Syria.

Al-Awam added: "The head of Russian diplomacy arrives and the Syrian crisis has been dormant for nearly a year. Nobody wants it to explode today. The local and international parties are busy with other, more priority issues now, and there is no harm in using this time to arrange the internal house in some details that are difficult to accomplish under the weight." the war".

The Russians have conditions that Damascus must fulfill. Today they are the orphan gateway to the regime if it wants to get out of its economic and political crises. Moscow will not guarantee al-Assad that it will remain in power forever. Rather, they are pledges that the crisis will remain dormant until the time comes to resolve it with the least possible damage to him and his regime.

Everyone prefers to be inactive. The Turks are preoccupied with their struggle with the Europeans. And the United States is suspended until the end of the presidential elections next November. This is what Iran is also waiting for, because it determines its behavior in the Middle East during the next four years. This is the case in many countries of the world, east and west.

The only people who want the crisis to end are the residents of camps and detention centers in neighboring countries and the world. These are those whom days pass heavy and rough, and every day takes part from their lives as part of the dream of returning to a normal life. Unfortunately, these people have no voice, and they have no power in what has happened, is happening and will be.

The Russians are never in a hurry to accomplish the Constitutional Committee’s work because that disrupts the dormant crisis. And they know well before that, that this committee will not be upright in its work as long as the Kurds, America's agents in Syria, do not attend its table, and that the Turkish regions in the north will not return with a new constitution for the country.

What concerns the Russians today are those economic and military files that draw the determinants and manifestations of their permanent presence in Syria. And those points that make this presence more harmful to Iran, and more beneficial to America. Not only for the sake of Israel, but because Tehran is competing with Moscow more than Washington and Ankara in Syria.

The Russians know what the Americans want in Syria. They also know when and how they want to access it. Moscow will not hold back with Washington in making understandings, and the two are closer today than ever before. And if Trump stays in the White House for another four years, the volcano of the Syrian crisis may never erupt again.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat: Russia offers to mediate in the Eastern Mediterranean crisis

Regarding the tension in the eastern Mediterranean, Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper said: “Russia has offered to mediate between the conflicting parties in the eastern Mediterranean to end the tension, while (tomorrow) Thursday, a technical meeting of military officials from Turkey and Greece will start at the headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to discuss Defuse the tension and start the dialogue about the controversial files in the Eastern Mediterranean. "

After talks in Nicosia yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that his country is closely following the situation in the eastern Mediterranean, and is ready to provide assistance in the talks between Turkey and Cyprus in order to develop a real dialogue aimed at solutions acceptable to both parties, and that it will provide its support for a dialogue in the east. if requested by the interested parties.

Lavrov expressed Moscow's concerns about the United States ’actions in the eastern Mediterranean, which he said" contribute to fueling conflict rather than finding peaceful solutions. "

On Thursday, NATO will host a meeting between Turkish and Greek military delegations, at its headquarters in Brussels, to discuss ending tension in the eastern Mediterranean.

It was decided to hold the meeting after a phone call, last week, between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, in which Ankara said Athens had refused to participate. The meeting, which was scheduled to be held yesterday, was postponed for two days by a decision of the Military Committee of "NATO".

Okaz: A Turkish-Iranian plot to strike the Arab identity

Regarding the Iranian-Turkish moves, Okaz newspaper said: “The General Coordinator of the "Rally for Sovereignty” Nawfal Daou said that the visit of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, to Lebanon came in coordination with Hezbollah, which is its sponsor in form and content. "Okaz", that the danger in the matter is the Iranian attempt to control the Palestinian decision, just as the Lebanese decision has been controlled. "

Daou added that what is happening reminds us of one of the stages in which Hafez al-Assad sought, through control of Lebanon and the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, to seize the Palestinian card and use it to blackmail the Arabs on the one hand, and as a bargaining chip with the West (the United States and Israel) on the other hand, with the aim of protecting his regime.

And he considered the same scenario being repeated, as the Iranian, after he seized the Lebanese decision through the government and the authority, and after seizing a large part of the land, is completing the process of fully controlling the land in Lebanon through the Palestinian camps (Ain al-Hilweh camp - Miyyah Miyyah - Rashidiya), pointing out that all He knows that these camps in the worst days of the war remained supportive of the Palestinian Authority, the PLO before that, and the Fatah movement mainly, and it is clear that Haniyeh’s entry into the “Ain al-Hilweh” camp, which is considered the capital of the Palestinian diaspora, came under the auspices and facilitation of Hezbollah, so no one can enter this the camp.

Daou stressed that the danger in what is going on is "convergence", against the background of Haniyeh's relationship with Turkey, the Brotherhood and Iran, especially since his visit to Lebanon coincided with the meeting of the Supreme Council for Strategies between Iran and Turkey yesterday (Tuesday) headed by Rouhani and Erdogan, and therefore Haniyeh's visit cannot be considered a mere Coincidence. And he warned that there is an Iranian project, although it seems to some different from the Turkish project, but in reality the two projects are expansionary, each one has his own agenda, but the common thing is that they are on one land, which is Arab land.

He pointed out that all the regions experiencing tensions, whether in the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and even Libya, we find that there is a common Iranian-Turkish presence, which may seem to some contradictory, but in practice they contribute together in striking the Arab identity in every country in which they are present, and thus The logic of expansion that they use as two imperial projects in an attempt to restore a past history at the expense of the Arab world, its identity, economy, stability and security, and at the expense of Arab growth and development.
