The Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced that Ankara is waiting for a meeting with Greece in Ankara in the coming days.

At the time, Akar added that the meeting with the Greek side "aims to solve the outstanding problems between us."

The countries have a disagreement over the overlapping claims of oil and gas resources in the Mediterranean region.

Tensions have escalated between Turkey and Greece since Ankara has sent the survey ship "Oruç Reis" to disputed waters between the two countries in the eastern Mediterranean recently, in a move that Athens described as illegal.
