Mitanni: National unity must be at level of Kurdistan, not based on quotas

Bradost Mitanni explained that the main reason for the attacks on the Kurds is the dispersion of the Kurdish house, and stressed that national unity must be at the level of Kurdistan, and not based on quotas.

The Kurdish people suffer from the dispersion of the Kurdish forces and parties, and this dispersion opened the way for the colonial powers to occupy Kurdistan, and work to exterminate the Kurdistan and Kurdish people, and for years some Kurdish forces have been trying to unify the Kurdish ranks, but there are some forces and as a result of their partisan and personal interests, they do not take serious steps about this.

The researcher in history, Bradost Mitanni, believes that national unity is the dream of every Kurd who lives in Kurdistan and the diaspora, and explained: "The Kurdish people see the rest of the peoples how they liberated themselves and their land by uniting their ranks, and they strive for that as well."

Bradost Mitanni pointed out that the main reason behind the fragmentation and colonization of Kurdistan, the fragmentation of the Kurdish society and its persecution is the lack of unification of the Kurds in their ranks, and said: "If we were united, we would be free now, and our strength would be united; and we would be able to deter the enemy in all fields."

Personal interest made the Kurdish people lose national spirit and interest

Mitanni stressed that national unity should not be among political parties only, but must participate in all segments of society, indicating that the Kurdish community is in dire need of unity, and said: "This unity must be in an organized manner, and the entire Kurdish community must be gathered within it. It represents the Kurds in all political and diplomatic forums."

Mitanni drew attention to the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) and said: "There is a Kurdistan National Congress and dozens of Kurdish parties and organizations gather under its roof, but unfortunately some parties have not joined it yet, especially the Kurdistan Democratic Party – Iraq. The Kurdistan National Congress can prepare the suitable ground to unify the Kurdish ranks, it has a branch in Rojava and seeks through this branch to unify the Kurdish ranks in Rojava."

National unity must be at the level of Kurdistan

Mitanni stressed that if Kurdish national unity is achieved and joined by all Kurdish parties in Kurdistan, serious work will be done for the liberation of Kurdistan, and the Kurds will be represented in international forums, and from the diplomatic point of view, the Kurds will be represented in the world, and military forces will be established to defend the Kurdish people, and he said: "At that time, the patriotism will revive in the hearts of every Kurd."

Mitanni touched on the repercussions of the dispersal of the Kurdish house and said: "Unfortunately, as a result of the lack of a Kurdish national unity, some Kurds believe in the ideas and policies of enemies, such as the Turkish Erdoganian policy, and some forces in the region implement their agendas against the Kurds as a result of their dispersion."

Bradost Mitanni emphasized that national unity must be at the level of Kurdistan, and he said: "Yes, there are efforts to unify the ranks of the Kurds in Rojava, but these efforts are not sufficient."

Mitanni stated: "Although there are efforts to unify the Kurdish ranks in Rojava, there is a slowdown in taking serious steps. On the contrary, there must be an acceleration in uniting the ranks because the political situation in the region changes from time to time, and we do not know what will happen in the future."

Reasons for delayed Kurdish unity

Mitanni suggested that the reason for the delay in unifying the Kurdish ranks in Rojava is due to the weakness of the Kurdish patriotic spirit among some parties. He said: "Let us be frank about this issue, the Democratic Union Party gives its decisions quickly and urgently and does not procrastinate. As for the Kurdish National Council, its decisions are not unified, even the viewpoint of the parties of the Council is not close and they have not agreed among themselves yet, and their decision is not clear, so efforts to achieve national unity are delayed."

Mitanni noted: "To date, the Kurdish National Council is a member of the Syrian National Coalition, and more than 95% of the Kurdish people want to remove the National Council from the coalition that is the enemy of the Kurdish people and their cause, works under the orders of the Turkish occupation, and occupies several areas in Rojava. The Council does not express any position regarding the occupation's violations against the people of Rojava, and despite all that, the people in the region view the efforts of national unity in a positive light."

Mitanni continued on the issue of the Kurdish National Council's procrastination regarding the efforts of national unity, saying: "I support that the Kurdish parties in Rojava have relations with the Kurdish parties in the rest of the parts, whereas representatives of the National Council, before engaging into negotiations regarding national unity, went to Başûr and consulted the Kurdistan Democratic Party. This is good, but this routine delays the efforts of the unit."

Bradost Mitanni also indicated that the Kurdish National Council parties are divided among themselves, and said: "For example, the Kurdish Yekti Party, which is a member of the National Council, is divided into several parts at home and abroad, the Party's representatives in abroad Fouad Aliko and Ibrahim Berro are against the unity of the ranks, the members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria at home support the efforts of unity, but the leader of the Party Abdel Hakim Bashar in abroad opposes."

Regarding what is resulted from the meetings that take place among the Kurdish forces and the efforts of some parties to put forward clauses on sharing the gains that have been achieved, Kurdistan has been divided by exploiting the issue of unity, Mitanni said: "These endeavors are against the interests of the Kurdish people and against the endeavors of Kurdish national unity because the gains that have been achieved do not belong to a party or any party. Let's be honest: What is being circulated about quotas (40% by 40% and 20%) is not a patriotic act, but rather is putting a hand on what the struggling and patriotic people have achieved. There is no law or principle stipulating that a people will struggle, resist and sacrifice and that another who did not make any effort to come and says: We must share what has been achieved."

Mitanni added: "Whoever sacrificed to achieve the accomplishments that have been made must not be marginalized. Unity must not be based on quotas because it will be incomplete."

The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) is under attack because it defends the Kurdish people

Bradost Mitanni praised the efforts made by the PKK for 40 years to achieve national unity, and said: "The Turkish state is a barbaric state and is hostile to the rights of the Kurdish people, so it launches attacks on the PKK which adopts a national liberation project and struggles for the freedom of the Kurdish people wherever found, stands as an obstacle to the ambitions of the chauvinist Turkish state, and defend the soil of Kurdistan, and the resistance of Heftainin is now a witness to that."

Bradost Mitanni said: "The Kurdistan Democratic Party - Iraq does not strengthen relations with the PKK to protect what it has at hand." He believed that it is necessary to sacrifice logical interests in exchange for Kurdistan interests, and said: "The enemy always attacks the gains achieved by the Kurds, for example during Masoud Barzani declaration of the referendum in Başûr Kurdistan, we saw how the Turkish occupation attacked Başûr Kurdistan."

Bradost Mitanni explained that the attacks on the legitimate defense zones and the PKK are because the Party fights for the freedom and national rights of the Kurds, and said: "If there was Kurdish national unity, we would have foiled the Turkish plans."

Bradost Mitanni asserted that the more the Kurds delay uniting their ranks, the more they are exposed to attacks and extermination plans than before."
