Al-Youssef: cutting off water from al-Hasakah is crime against humanity

Consecutive 3 weeks and the water has been cut off by Turkish occupation from of al-Hasakah city, which caused sever catastrophe in in securing water, with which the city’s population of more than one million people suffers.

Observers of the developments in the situation believe that the Turkish occupation is using water weapons in its war against the region, as this war began with a massive reduction in the level of water flow from the Euphrates River to the Syrian lands, and recently it began to cut off water from the city of al-Hasakah from Alouk station in the occupied city of Serêkaniyê in northern Syria.

The co-chair of the Intellectuals Union in Manbij Ahmed al-Youssef said that "the recent war that the Turkish state is waging against the people in the city of al-Hasakah is a systematic war against humanity."

"Even wars between countries have laws, but the Turkish state by cutting off water from the city of al-Hasakah, whose population is close to one million people, is committing a crime against humanity," he added in an interview with Hawar news agency ANHA.

Ahmed al-Youssef appealed to humanitarian and international organizations to take an urgent stand to deter the Turkish state from continuing with this "crime" and return to pump the water to al-Hasakah city."

Al-Youssef said in the conclusion of his speech that Turkey is "undermining all human norms with this act."

It should be noted that the Autonomous Administration began to move to avoid the water problem through the implementation of the project of drilling "Al Hamma" wells. The water of this project began a few days ago to reach the residential neighborhoods in the city of Hasakah, but it is not sufficient to meet the city's water needs.
