Al-Shahba women demand holding Turkish occupation accountable for its crimes against women

The women of al-Shahba canton condemned the crimes of violence and assault on women in the occupied territories, and said: "The stage we have reached now has no law and no accountability for the perpetrators."

Women in northern and eastern Syria are exposed to violence in several ways, especially in the areas occupied by the fascist Turkish state in an attempt to break their will and determination.

About what the occupation is practicing, a number of women and administrators of al-Shahba canton spoke to our agency, as the Administrator of the Women Union of al-Shahba canton, Sabah al-Nasser, said: "We also see that the Turkish occupation abuses underage women and young women, and practice torture and rape against them, exposing them to psychological and moral pressure."

In the context of her speech, Sabah called on human rights organizations to break their silence.

Amal Ismail said: "In all areas under Turkish occupation, women are killed, raped and displaced with their children, and all of this is before the eyes of the world. All these crimes are a policy whose aim is to target the dignity and freedom of women."

Amal said: "We have reached a stage where there is no international law, no accountability by law, or no comment on what is happening."

Amal asked: "How long will we remain in this situation? Since ten years, these crimes have been being practiced against women. Despite our condemnation in the strongest terms, but to no avail and without accountability for the occupation."

The Administrator in the Reconciliation Committee of al-Shahba canton, Salma Mohamed, also said: "We hear and see on the media outlets about women being subjected to violence, so we do not accept them, and we will be liberated and will continue to support each other."
