The Israeli authorities asked the residents of the settlements to stay in the homes and turn off the lights. The Israeli army also closed all border crossings with Lebanon, and sources said that "the Israeli army found a hole in the fence at al-Manara settlement, and an army unit conducted a wide combing operation in the area."

Channel 13 military correspondent Nir Dafouri reported: "The security event in the north is taking place while the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is on vacation in a hotel near the site of the event," before Netanyahu arrives at a military base in the north to monitor the situation on the borders of Lebanon.
