Iraq calls on Turkey to stop violating its airspace

"

On Wednesday, the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed that Iraq had sent a complaint with the UN Security Council against attacks on its territory.

"The Security and Defense Committee called for the strengthening the air defenses, aviation and radars, to enhance the capabilities of the Iraqi army in the face of any possible attacks," the official news agency said, quoting committee member Abdul Khaleq al-Azzawi.

On Turkish and Iranian attacks on Iraqi territory, Al-Azzawi added that "there is a high coordination between the Commander in Chief of the armed forces and the parliamentary security and defense committees and foreign relations by calling the ambassadors of Turkey and Iran to Baghdad and delivering them two strongly worded protest letters."

He explained that "Iraq sent a formal complaint with the UN Security Council and the United Nations against attacks on Iraqi territory."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had earlier summoned the ambassadors of Turkey and Iran to Baghdad to its headquarters, and handed them a strongly worded protest note.
