Tunisian president denounces Gannouchi's support to Accord government in Libya 

President Qais Saeed said in an interview with the French network "France 24" that "there are many indications about external interference in Tunisia by forces trying to bring Tunisia back, and there are those who wanted to collude with it from the inside."

The Tunisian president confirmed that he has abundant information on this matter, saying, "I have a lot of information and have hidden it even from those close, because I do not want to make the situation more complicated, but I know a lot of what they think I do not know."

The Tunisian parliament had witnessed in early June a sharp debate between the various parties on Tunisia's position regarding the Libyan issue, amid accusations of the Islamic Renaissance Movement and its archenemy, the Free Constitutional Party in collusion with external parties.

Saeed rejected all foreign interference in Libya divided between the Tripoli-based Accord Government and the forces of Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, the strongman in the Libyan East.

When asked about the support of the Accord Government by Turkey, which French President Emmanuel Macron criticized strongly at a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart on Monday, Saeed said, "I reject any foreign intervention in Libya from any side," stressing that "only the Libyan people are sovereign."

The Tunisian president considered that external interference exacerbates the conflict, stressing that responsibility is shared.

Saeed stressed that "the division of Libya is unacceptable," adding that "it may lead to the division of other countries, and this is a danger to Tunisia and Algeria."

"I am constantly working to coordinate with the Algerian side so that we have one position," Saeed said. "We can have a common Maghreb position on Libya, the initiative could be issued by the countries of the Maghreb because they are concerned mainly."

Saeed denounced the support of the President of the Tunisian House of Representatives and the head of the Ennahda Movement, which is close to Ankara, Rachid Ghannouchi, for Accord Government in Libya.

Stressing that international legitimacy and the Security Council resolution give legitimacy to Fayez al-Sarraj government, however, the Tunisian president considered that this legitimacy must be replaced by popular legitimacy.

He stressed that foreign policy in Tunisia is the prerogative of the President of the Republic, stressing that no party can interfere in it.
