More than 300 Yazidi families returned to their homes in Şengal

On August 3, 2014, ISIS mercenaries launched a brutal attack on the province of Şengal in Başûr south Kurdistan, and massacres of thousands of Yazidis were committed, and thousands were kidnapped, including more than 5,000 Yazidi women.

The attack of ISIS mercenaries, "Decree 74 as defined by the Yezidis", led to the displacement of tens of thousands of Yazidi families towards Rojava and Başûr      Kurdistan regions, after the camps were opened to receive them.

After 6 years of displacement in Başûr Kurdistan camps, hundreds of Yazidi families have started returning to Şengal.

According to information, more than 300 families returned during the past week to the center of Şengal province, and the villages, especially located in the southern side of Şengal mountain.

And the Autonomous Administration Council of Şengal works to receive the returnees, and provides them with assistance in order to stay in their homes after returning to them.

On June 15, the Turkish occupation targeted Şengal province with more than 30 air strikes, the aim of which was to prevent the return of the Yazidis to their land, and to complete what ISIS mercenaries had been unable to implement in obliterating the history and culture of the Kurdish people, especially the Yazidi community.
