Despite international calls .. 3 Turkish aircrafts, ship carrying weapons to Libya monitored

The Italian website for monitoring air traffic said that two of them took off from Istanbul airport, and the third from Konya military base in Turkey.

The website also revealed the approach of the Turkish cargo ship "CIRKIC" which sailed from the Turkish ports of Istanbul and Haydar Paşa respectively and was intercepted by a Greek frigate. The site said that it is now approaching the ports of western Libya.

Yesterday, a Greek ship intercepted a Turkish cargo ship loaded with weapons and ammunition off the coast of Libya.

According to the Italian agency of Nova, the Greek ship participating in the "Ireni" maritime operation which is headed by Italy spotted a Turkish cargo ship off the coast of Libya with weapons and ammunition aboard, while the destination of its dock to any ports west of Libya was not known.

This came a day after the Greek and Italian foreign ministers signed in Athens an agreement to demarcate the borders of the exclusive economic zone in Ionian Sea that separates the two neighboring countries.
