Syrian president relieves prime minister of his position

The Syrian Presidency statement said: "The President al-Assad issues Decree No. 143 of 2020 to exempt the Prime Minister the Engineer Imad Mohammed Deeb Khamis from his post and to assign the Engineer Hussein Arnous to the functions of the Prime Minister, in addition to his duties as the Minister of Water Resources."

The Syrian pound has recently witnessed a significant decline in its value against the dollar, as it crossed 3,000 Syrian pounds per dollar, which is a precedent of its kind since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, which caused great confusion and discontent in the Syrian street, reflecting in the prices of consumer goods.
