Progressive and Al-Wahdah parties condemn crimes in Afrin, demand independent fact-finding committee

The Progressive and Al-Wahdah parties denounced the violations and crimes committed in Afrin, and appealed to all Syrian political forces and human rights and cultural activities at home and abroad, as well as parliamentary and governmental circles in the world to raise the voices of condemnation of what the Kurds are being subjected to in Afrin, and press Turkey to allow the international media to enter Afrin and form an independent international commission of inquiry to investigate the facts on the ground

This came in a joint written statement issued by the "Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria (Yekiti) and the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria. They said in the text of their statement:

After nine years from the Syrian crisis and its tragedies and atrocities throughout the country, including Turkey's continuing aggressive expansionist policies in the Syrian interior, through its armed jihadist groups of the opposition that bowed to the Turkish side to crush and disperse the historical Kurdish presence in northern Syria which was clearly demonstrated by the occupation of the Afrin region, which has been passed on for more than two years. It followed in the most severe and ugliest ways and forms of humiliation and violations against its Kurdish population, including kidnapping, arrest, and torture to death, confiscating property and homes, imposing royalties, and closing the doors of work for the purpose of extortion and pushing the rest of the people of the region to leave in order to impose population change in Afrin and its countryside is its most prominent title: Forced housing for tens of thousands of families of jihadists throughout its territory, in conjunction with the applications of the Turkification policies and spreading patterns of extremism and hatred, and proceeding with deformations and sabotage against archaeological and linguistic features, according to the methodology of cultural genocide against the Kurds in general and the Yazidis in particular.

Recently, the ugliness of the recurrence of the phenomenon of intentionally pushing Kurdish women into secret detention facilities and humiliating them under the eyes of the Turkish occupation forces discreet from the beginning about the performance of its duties to protect the lives and dignity of civilians in accordance with international laws and norms, which sparked a wave of condemnation among the overwhelming Syrians.

We are in Al-Wahdah and Progressive parties at a time when we condemn and denounce the violations and daily crimes committed above against Kurdish civilians in the Afrin region and other areas of Syria that are under the yoke of the Turkish occupation and its mercenary helpers. We appeal to all Syrian political forces and human rights and cultural activities at home and abroad, as well as the parliamentary community and the government in the world to raise the voices of condemnation against the grievances and danger faced by the Kurds in Afrin, and urged the government of Turkey to allow the international media to enter the Afrin region and its areas and form an independent international investigation committee to investigate the facts of the field.
