1,900 French Navy members to be quarantined

French forces began an unprecedented landing of 1,900 naval personnel to be quarantined, following the return of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its docking in Toulon, due to the discovery Coved-19 cases among its crew.

"According to the most up-to-date information available, there is no deterioration in the health status of the 50 people infected with the novel virus," Christine Reeb, a spokeswoman for the region's maritime administration said.

"Everyone will be examined," she said, "the military men (about 1,700 on the aircraft carrier, and more than 200 in the accompanying frigate) will be quarantined for two weeks in military posts in Far province and in the region", and will not be allowed to mix with their families", she added.

In parallel with the military's isolation, the military plans to begin fully sterilizing the aircraft carrier and frigate on Tuesday, an unprecedented operation.

The French Army had decided to return the carrier to France after a mission scheduled to last until April 23rd.

It is not known for the precise extent of the corona outbreak on the nuclear aircraft carrier, especially since the frigate's crew has not been in contact with any outside parties since mid-March.
