Health Authority: Syrian authorities, with their wrong decisions, threaten the lives of our people

The Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria issued a written statement to the public opinion, in which it held the Syrian authorities responsible for any infections in the region, for its failure to adhere to the rules and procedures for prevention and to continue to send and enter travelers to the region.

The text of the statement read:

Corona virus infections are increasing day after day around the world, reaching one million and 380 thousand cases, of whom more than 75 thousand people have died, and the number of infections and deaths is still increasing.

The Syrian government has announced 19 cases, of which two have died, while the towns of Minin and Al-Sayyeda Zainab have been isolated in Damascus countryside, and non-governmental media sites, including the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in Syria, have reported the existence of unannounced cases in some governorates and some have entered illegally into the country.

The curfew was announced in March 23 and extended for 15 days, to avoid the spread of the virus in our regions, as we work and within the capabilities available to mobilize management institutions to prevent the virus from entering our areas where all the crossings were closed, and only the Qamishlo airport was left, through which travelers enter the Autonomous Administration areas.

The Syrian authorities are unwilling to cooperate

"And for the prevention, we subjected the travelers arriving at Qamishlo Airport to the necessary checks, and sent them to quarantine places to ensure their safety, but the Syrian authorities do not want to cooperate, and cause their wrong decisions to endanger the lives of our people in the north and east of Syria by passing civilians into our regions, without informing the Autonomous Administration and conducting the necessary checks to ensure their safety. "

The Syrian government underestimates the rules of prevention against Corona

The statement criticized the Syrian government's disdain for people's lives, "We in the Health Authority hold the Syrian authorities responsible for their disregard for any infections in our areas due to their failure to comply with the rules and procedures for prevention and to continue to send and enter travelers to our areas. We also call on our children, students who come to our areas, to give priority to the interests of their families and their people, and that they take the initiative to conduct examinations and take the necessary measures, and this is our pledge to them because they represent the future. "

On April 7, a plane loaded with passengers coming from the Syrian capital, Damascus, arrived at Qamishlo airport, carrying a number of civilians, and 6 of them were subjected to examination by the crisis cell emergency teams to ensure that they were not infected with the Corona virus, while the airport officials belonging to the government authorities smuggled a number of them to avoid being tested, and putting them in quarantine.
