As preventive measure.. scientific committee, 3 medical centers established in Kobani

The Health Authority in the Euphrates region, northern Syria, is close to finishing the equipping of the third medical center in the city of Kobani, as part of the measures taken against the emergence of the Corona virus, and the authority announced a scientific committee to discuss the global pandemic "Covid 19".

The preparations of the Health Authority in the Euphrates region coincide with the high numbers of people infected with Coronavirus in neighboring countries, especially Turkey and Iraq, while the Health Authority for Northern and Eastern Syria confirmed the region is empty of the emerging virus.

In the context of measures taken against the virus, the Health Authority last Wednesday prepared a center that would contain suspected cases of the virus; and the authority finished preparing a quarantine center for confirmed cases that need isolation.

In addition, the authority has introduced 8 new ambulances, in conjunction with the allocation of a telephone line for emergency cases earlier.

A third medical center contains 150 beds

The Health Authority is working to equip the third medical center with 150 beds, spread over a number of rooms, while the medical staff in Kobani are seeking to support those beds with medical supplies in the next few days.

The third medical center will be declared as a "quarantine" for confirmed cases of the virus, to quarantine the infected away from the residents of the city and its countryside, and they will be referred to the main "intensive quarantine" in Mishta Nur south of Kobani in case the patient's condition deteriorates.

A scientific committee is studying Corona

In the same context, the Health Authority has set up a "scientific committee" to keep abreast of the latest developments regarding the Corona virus and its implications at the global level.

The committee is composed of 12 doctors, "4 internal pathologists, two pediatricians, one radiologist, two physicians, one ENT specialist, and two administrative doctors in the authority."

According to member of the Scientific Medical Committee for Corona Virus Research Ali Shaheen, the committee’s job is currently focused on setting preventive methods against the emergence of the Corona virus in the region, how to deal with infected cases if there are any, studying the virus and the possibility of finding countermeasures for it in cooperation with other committees in the north and east Syria.
