Commemorating Muhammed Sheikho, artist

The hall was crowded with lovers of the passed away artist and his relatives. Dozens of writers also attended the event and members of the civil institutions as wel.

The memorial service began with a silence moment, and then several speeches were delivered by Adnan Ibrahim on behalf of the Director of Culture and Art and a speech by the co-chair of the Movement of Democratic Society, Gharib Hasso. He stressed that Muhammed Sheikho, always faced the injustice, aggression and occupation through his songs.

he added that the artist Mohammed Sheikho showed through his songs the suffering and pains the Kurdish people.

"Through Kurdish art, we can be the voice of democracy and freedom, but we must express our position of the unity of the Kurdish rank," he said.

"Mohammed Sheikho was able to bring us together, so each of his songs was a political newspaper, those who loved him could understand what he meant in his songs,"  Sheikho's brother, Hajji Hamid said.

The memorial service concluded with the performance of Muhammed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art  several songs, followed by a screening of his life and artistic career.
