Regime declares domination on Khan al-Assal, al-Rashideen in Aleppo countryside

SANA agency affiliated to the regime said: "The army units liberated Khan al-Assal and al-Rashideen 4 neighborhoods after intensive operations against the terrorists’ gatherings, their headquarters and the elimination of their last gatherings, thus the eastern side of the international road Aleppo – Damascus has been completely liberated."

The agency added, "The army units carried out focused operations against the terrorists of Jabhet al-Nusra and its related groups in the western outskirts of Aleppo, which resulted in the defeat of the terrorists from al-Rashideen 4 neighborhood and Khan al-Assal area towards the western countryside, causing many killed in their ranks."

With the first years of the Syrian crisis, the name of Khan al-Assal came to the forefront of events. In March 2013, Syrian activists broadcasted photos showing dozens of civilians suffering from severe suffocation with no signs of wounds, in addition to a number of deaths in Khan al-Assal neighborhood of Aleppo, northwestern Syria, and this incident raised the file of chemical weapons possessed by the regime.
