Direk's old bazar  is evidence for region's history and heritage

 People bazar in Direk is one of the oldest commercial markets in the region, with only 20 shops remaining. It still retains its heritage in terms of architectural design, as well as the goods on display. 

Despite the modernity and development of the region, the old bazar in Direk has maintained its place among the region's inhabitants.

 The old market, which dates back to the start of the last century, is the main building block for the existing Dirk city market.

The old bazar is located east of the current market. It housed once more than 40 shops. This market belongs to the Mufti's family. It was houses, and 2 square meters  rooms , overlooking  Ain Dewar Street, they were transformed into  commercial shops.

 Old and new tools, such as the tools and accessories of the shepherds,  anchors, bells, rollers from wells, hooks of all sizes, carpenters tools , and agriculture tools such as sickle, axe, till rings and lanterns, are sold in these stores and the crutches.  

The bazar shops are characterized by geometrically engineered wooden shelves, that all the old materials and tools are placed on.

One of the shopkeepers in the bazar, Ibrahim Yusif Rami, in his seventies, told our agency about the history of the bazar and the current situation: "This bazar dates back to more than 55 years. "Remi remembers when the price of these stores was only 400 lira, and now it is 60,000 for a whole year."

 "The old bazar was for the city and Direk villages ,to provide all the supplies and needs of the people of all sides, but the demand on the old bazar has decreased significantly because the  expansion of  the modern bazar of the city, and people's need  to have old tools that are sold in the bazar.

Mohamed Said Khalaf, who inherited his place from his father, who hired it in the 1970s, depends on it for his livelihood.

 Khalaf also complains about the low demand on the bazar because of the declining need on the old tools .
