Escalating protests in Iraq and dozens wounded

Alsumaria news reported that a medical source in Dhi Qar Governorate confirmed that 30 protesters had been injured in clashes in the city of Nasiriyah.

He added that at least thirty people were recorded, most of whom were wounded by gunfire in the ranks of the demonstrators as a result of clashes with security forces today in Nasiriyah.

In turn, a security source reported recording cases of suffocation as a result of the use of smoke bombs by the security forces near Al Wathba Square in central Baghdad.

The source added that the security forces fired intermittently tear gas near Al-Wathba Square, in central Baghdad, noting that 13 cases of suffocation were recorded.

Tahrir Square, the center of the protest demonstrations in Baghdad, this morning, witnessed mass marches with the participation of university and school students.

For its part, the Iraqi National Security Council decided to transfer the security file in the central and southern governorates to the Ministry of Interior.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi authorities reopened, on Saturday, squares and streets in Baghdad and southern cities, which raised the fears of protesters about the expansion of the campaign, leading to the dispersal of sit-ins.
