Demo in Sherawa to condemn occupation, emphasize resistance until returning to Afrin

To condemn the Turkish occupation of Afrin canton, and the Turkish army and its mercenaries committed massacres against civilians, on the second anniversary of the start of the occupation attacks, the organization office in the Syrian Democratic Council in Afrin and Al-Shahba organized a demonstration, in which hundreds of forcibly displaced Afrin residents participated.

The demonstration also involved 72 children and girls of the displaced people of Afrin, who wore white vests reading “Coming, Afrin,” referring to 72 Turkish warplanes that participated in the bombing of civilians in Afrin, and the massacres committed against them.

The demonstration started from the village of Ziyara in the district of Sherawa, and roamed the main streets, during which marchers chanted slogans on the resistance and glorified the martyrs.

The protesters stopped in the Al-Awda camp, and everyone stood there for a minute of silence, after which Shereen Qasso the co-chair of the organization's office in Afrin canton and Al-Shahba read a statement denouncing the Turkish attack, which read:

With the passage of nine years of war in Syria, the Turkish occupation state was able to implement its plans through its foreign agendas and Syrian mercenaries, occupying large areas of Syria starting from Afrin to Ras al-Ain, Tal Abyad, through Azaz, Jarabulus, and Al-Bab.

On the 20th of the first month of 2018, the Turkish occupation state was heavily armed with all kinds of heavy weapons, with the participation of the so-called Free Army factions with their barbaric aggression on the city of Afrin, which led to the martyrdom of hundreds, the displacement of tens of thousands, and the pursuit of the scorched earth policy through land and air strikes and its aftermath Demographic change, forced displacement of indigenous people, and forcible displacement of residents from other areas into civilian homes without the consent of their people.

The Turkish occupation distributes the property of the original citizens to the families settled in their homes without right, and it changes the names of the villages from Kurdish and Arabic to Turkish, as well as all signs and addresses, and changes the names of the main squares and public facilities to be named after the occupation symbols as Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and impose dealing in Turkish lira, imposing education in the Turkish language, and adopting Turkish school curricula."

From the beginning, Turkey was a major regional player, with its goals and eternal dream, as the Justice and Development Government was seeking to restore the Ottoman Sultanate, and it did not hesitate to do anything to achieve this dream, and this was evident from the beginning of the Syrian crisis that entered its ninth year.

We are, Syrian Democratic Council, while we remember this tragic disaster with great sadness against the people of our people in Afrin, we appeal to the international community, the Security Council, the human rights organization, the coalition countries, and the Russian Federation to end the Turkish occupation of Afrin, and the return of their forcibly displaced people to their homes as we address our people in Syria, by joining hands and standing hand in hand, declaring an all-out liberation war for the lands occupied by Turkey, foremost among which is the Afrin resistance. "

After completing the reading of the statement, a member of the Families of the Martyrs Council in the Afrin region, Recep Mustafa, delivered a speech denouncing the Turkish attacks, and said: The mercenaries of the Turkish occupation army are still continuing their violations against the people of Afrin without there being accountability by the relevant international parties.

In turn, a member of the Shahba Provincial Council, Abdo Al-Ahmad, delivered a speech praising the sacrifices of the martyrs during the resistance of the era.

In a speech on behalf of the elders of the tribes of Afrin, member Khalil Rasho added: The solidarity of the Syrian people will liberate the occupied areas in Syria and will be a way to expel the occupation.

The demonstration ended with chanting slogans saluting the resistance.
