In a statement published by the US-led Coalition on its official Twitter webpage, “The activities that have been suspended include training with partners and supporting their operations against ISIS.”

The statement continued, “Although the military activities are suspended at the present time, the other activities continue normally, including combating the harmful propaganda of ISIS, undermining the stability and disrupting the funding.”

It added, “We are awaiting further clarification regarding the legal nature and impact of the decision on the foreign forces which are no longer allowed to remain in Iraq as approved by the Iraqi parliament on Sunday, January 5th.”

It concluded, “We believe that it is in the common interests of all Coalition partners, among them Iraq, to continue fighting against ISIS.”

Last week witnessed dangerous developments in the framework of the conflict between the United States and the military operations that took place on the Iraqi soil, starting with the killing of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ prominent leader Qassem Soleimani with an American drone and ending with striking American military targets by Iran.
