Kurdish politician: Parties that do not support unity prefer their personal party interests at expense of Kurdish issue

Khabat Mohammed: "The higher interest is higher than personal interests, and some parties that do not support the initiative of holding the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) in this stage prefer their partisan interests at the expense of the Kurdish people’s unity."

On the importance of holding the Kurdistan National Congress in these critical circumstances which Kurdistan is exposed to in general, our agency held a meeting with the member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Kurdish Unity Party in Syria, Khabat Mohammed.

"It is a good initiative, and it requires all political forces and parties to support this initiative, especially in these circumstances that Rojava is undergoing through the brutal attacks by the Turkish occupation," he said.

Khabat added, "To counter these brutal attacks , we need a strong stance to confront them, and to strengthen this confrontation, we must unify the Kurdistan political movement , so we as a political party in Rojava supported the consultation meetings that took place two years ago in every part of Kurdistan according to their geographic circumstances and support holding a Kurdish national congress as soon as possible.”

Mohammed continued, "There were several consultative meetings in Rojava before the occupation of Afrin, Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî by Turkey." He also pointed out, “In this critical stage that Rojava is going through which creates a serious threat, the initiative for the Kurdistan National Congress is of a great importance and necessity."

As to non-holding of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), Mohammed said, "It is not new what have been done for holding the Kurdistan National Congress by KNK. Which has worked keenly for many years for holding it. The question is for the political movement: why have not the congress held till now?

He also stressed the importance of the Kurdish unity and organization for the higher interest of the Kurdish people than the personal ones. He added, "Some parties that do not stand behind the initiative at this stage put their own interests higher than the Kurdish people unity."
